Did you know that the Explorit Science Center at 2801 2nd Street in Davis is free to the public on the fourth Sunday of every month?

The long-term exhibition at the Jonsson Gallery, “Move It! Science in Action,” examines affects on an object's spin, how still images in a movie combine to create the illusion of motion, what factors affect bike performance, how wind affects motion, how gears work, and much more. In this dynamic exhibition, you'll discover that motion is everywhere.

The current exhibition at the Gumerlock Gallery, “Body Blueprints,” runs through Feb. 8 and invites visitors to explore how your genes determine your skin and eye color and the role they play in your overall health.

For more information call (530) 756-0191 or visit the Explorit Web site at www.explorit.org.

If you would like your non-profit or community event publicized in this column (sorry, no political events), please e-mail me by the 15th of the month for the next month’s issue at lauracolerowe@yahoo.com.
